Communication is important in our everyday living. Without it everything might be in chaos. Thus, in workplace we need to communicate effectively and efficiently. To have an effective and efficient communication one has to consider the elements in communication. These elements include the sender, receiver, channel, encode, decode, message and feedback.
In oral communication facial expressions, gestures, volume and tone are factors to be considered to process the message you wanted to portray. While in written; language, structure of the sentence, grammar and context will matter.
To determine the effectiveness of communication the receiver shall give feedback and if both the sender and the receiver understood each other. Communication process might be hampered due to language barriers and noise. Noise can be physical or psychological.
Interpersonal communication in the workplace plays an important role in employee satisfaction, motivation, collaboration and business success.
